Another International Holocaust Memorial Day event was held at the Kedem Jewish Center in Kishinev.
Special skullcaps were distributed to the participants, after which the Kaddish memorial prayer was recited by a representative of Chabad emissary and Chief Rabbi of Moldova Rabbi Zalman Abelsky. Afterwards, Rabbi Abelsky spoke about the importance of observing the Torah and its commandments in bringing the Messiah.
Present at the ceremony were acting Moldovan President Marian Lupu and Prime Minister Lin Tarcheanu.
Also there were dozens of ambassadors from various countries and representatives of Jewish organizations. At the Great Synagogue in Kishinev, prayers were recited in the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust.
